Where did all my money go?

Where did all my money go?

Since the start of the covid-19 outbreak people have not been able to leave their homes as much and have relied on services such as Amazon and Postal Services as well as food delivery services to get damn the products they need. Myself working as a door Dasher for most of my senior year of high school I'd become rather used to Door dashing for two to three hours everyday and walking away with anywhere between 6 and 10 $8 deliveries. For a total of anywhere between 48 to about $80 a night but right at the start of the covid-19 outbreak something strange happened my premiums which is the average amount of money I make per delivery went up significantly to anywhere between 10 and $15. This was really exciting for me and meant I can make a lot more money and because doordash had been deemed in a central service I could continue to work. But then suddenly about a week into the panic something else strange happened my premiums went down I checked my map app several times to see if the amount of orders have gone down but to my contrary they had increased but my premiums have dropped back down to roughly $8. This didn't make any sense to me as demand had only increased and the amount of door Dashers had decreased with people getting off the roads I was questioning myself whether doordash as a company was taking more of a cut to increase the profit which seems super on ethical in the time of a crisis. and then I received a push notification informing me that doordash had dropped their fees significantly open up the service to a wider group of potential customers. This made sense because now I went from getting at most ten $8 deliveries to anywhere between 15 and 20. Doordash had made the cost of using the service cheaper so more people would buy in and in turn I was actually making more money and didn't realize it. This was a really interesting economic tactic that didn't occur to me right away.
