Is zoom good or Does it even have to be?

Is zoom good or Does it even have to be

With the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus many educating platforms have taken to doing online video calls as well as many businesses I know personally my mother works for HP and they've taken to going all online and exclusively using Zoom. I've seen this with many other corporations as well as educational institutions using Zoom as their exclusive online platform a question I have is whether Zoom is actually good? I've heard many complaints from several people including myself that Zoom as a service is hard to use and hard to understand and isn't as robust as other services. But my follow-up question is the zoom even have to be good? because once it is established as an industry-standard it's going to be the go-to for everyone to use until someone undercuts them in the market. for myself personally, I'd never heard of Zoom until the pandemic and then all of a sudden it seems like the service came out of nowhere. so is zoom is being established as the industry standard for professional to semi-professional online meetings does their platform actually have to be good if everyone is going to use it. honestly, I think not at least for the time being right now it feels like Zoom can continue to be clunky and non-streamlined and it doesn't matter because they've already branded themselves as the professionals' FaceTime. I couldn't see my school asking people to jump on house party or do an iOS FaceTime call. because Zoom has made themselves out to be the professional LinkedIn of FaceTime calls and therefore because they hold that status their product doesn't inherently have to be better than the other products it just has to be different which it is. so until someone else creates a more streamlined and more efficient professional FaceTiming service Zoom will continue to be the industry standard and will not need to innovate. in layman's terms they have a hold on the market and have no need to improve themselves without competition.
