Globalization

Image result for globalization

With a growth in global interactions, an important thing for the US to consider is balance. With technological improvements and changing political perspectives, global communication can be a very helpful tool in bettering our economy and affairs. Countries who have historically distanced themselves from globalization, like Japan, have often struggled economically. However, their concern being keeping their culture and traditions consistent, and avoiding “americanization” has been successful through keeping things traditional.
Pros:
  • Technological Innovations: Being able to interact can connect many great minds and ideas to further our advances globally. Less collectively, the increased competition also sparks new innovations.
  • Improved living standards: these innovations lead to higher living standards, less poverty, easier communication, and assistance to developing nations.
  • Lowered Prices: Cost reductions have made living around the world cheaper
  • Connection: Culture is more easily exchanged, from movies, music, art, food.

Cons:
  • Loss of identity: the challenge Japan avoided, was losing the identity of the country with the introduction of a more connected world.
  • Interdependence: Depending on countries could lead to national or global instabilities.
  • National Sovereignty: Some see globalization as a threat to sovereignty. Some belief more focus should be placed domestically.
  • Equity Distribution: Unfairly skewed towards richer developed countries, particularly the west.

With the increase in innovations, globalization is inevitable, with that new challenges are faced. However, countries are also benefiting from this in many ways.
